1. Who We Are

AUTO BITS UK is a sole trader business operated by the owner of Auto Bits UK, trading as AUTO BITS UK. Our registered address is 18 Rambler Lane, Slough, SL3 7RR, United Kingdom. You can contact us at info@autobits.uk.

We are committed to protecting your personal data and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What Data We Collect

When you place an order, we collect the following personal information via our payment processor (Stripe):

Full name
Email address
Phone number (so the courier can reach you about delivery)
Delivery address
Payment information (processed and stored securely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details)

When we dispatch your order, we also store your name, email address, and tracking information in our secure order management system.

If you send a Business Plates enquiry, we receive the details you enter in the form (name, email, phone, company, registration and notes) by email so we can reply with a quote.

If you ask to be told when a product is back in stock, we keep your email address (and name, if given) against that product. We use it only to send you a confirmation and one email when the item is available, then we delete it. You can ask us to remove it at any time by emailing info@autobits.uk.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data only for the following purposes:

To process and fulfil your order
To send you a dispatch confirmation and tracking number
To respond to any queries, quote requests or complaints you raise with us

We do not use your data for marketing unless you have separately opted in. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Our Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the legal basis of contractual necessity — we need your information to fulfil the order you have placed with us.

5. Third Parties

We share your data only with the following trusted third parties as necessary to fulfil your order:

Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Shipping carriers (e.g. Royal Mail, Evri, DPD) — your name and address are provided to the carrier to deliver your order.
Resend — used to send transactional emails (order confirmations, dispatch notifications, stock alerts and enquiry replies). Your email address is used only to deliver these emails.
Vercel — hosts this website. Basic, anonymous visit statistics are collected without cookies.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

“Notify me” sign-ups are deleted as soon as we’ve emailed you that the product is available, or sooner if you ask.

We retain your order data for up to 6 years to comply with HMRC tax record requirements. After this period, your data is securely deleted.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
Object to or restrict our processing of your data
Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@autobits.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

Our website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We use Google Fonts, which may load fonts from Google's servers. No personal data is stored or used for profiling.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to check this page periodically.

10. Contact Us
